Japan is preparing to
face the challenge of an aging society with fewer children of a
scale no country has ever experienced. With the national cost of
medical care approaching 30 trillion yen, health care reform has
become a pressing national issue along with structural reforms of
Japans economy. In consideration of this aging society, the
21st Century Health Committee is examining new views and values
concerning health, and is exploring policies for their realization.
Through its activities, the committee encourages people to think
about and improve their own health, and ultimately aims to create
a healthy society endowed with vitality and high productivity.
