Dramatic
changes in modern Japanese society have made Japans
postwar political, administrative, and economic systems of little
use, and are generating a succession of socio-economic conflicts
and maladies. In this period of turmoil, Japan foremost needs fundamental
philosophies for the management of the nationphilosophies
that can promptly address the many-faceted and fluid situation and
apprehend the essence of the problems.
The JPC is helping the industrial society overcome this impasse
through proposals formulated by its various committees. At present,
there are nine standing committees and conferences addressing specific
problems, and a number of ad hoc committees that examine timely
subjects as necessary. Comprised of representatives of labor,
management, and experts in various sectors, the committees conduct
surveys and studies, and disclose the results to the public in the
form of policy proposals.
