Our Mission
Objectives for 2011

In order to break through current stagnancy in Japan, we should look outside to Asia and other countries of the world to tune to the global trend and reposition our strategies. We should improve total factor productivity and global competitiveness in all sectors, so as to bring business and vitality back to Japan. We should build a country with excellence in technology, management, social systems, and culture. We also should build a country in which people are hopeful and proud, a country that can be trusted by the world.

We will designate this year as "The First Year of Productivity Reform" and engage in following activities.

  1. Reform Japan's productivity to stimulate economy

In order to jump-start the Japanese economy, we must improve both global competitiveness and revitalize local economies. We must improve productivity of growing sectors as medical care, elderly care, and child-care, the businesses traditionally taken up by the government, and the service sector which is the base of Japanese Economy in addition to manufacturing. This initiative will lead to the creation of new employment in the era of globalization and will turn around the economy.

  1. Improve infrastructure to restructure people's life

We must improve infrastructure to realize the policies with high level of quality. We will promote the introduction of "common number" that is the core infrastructure of people's life. In addition, we will enhance the work-life balance, and the diversity of gender, age and nationality. As a result, we wiil improve convenience of people's life and create the society where capable persons can flourish. These efforts will lead us to establish the foundation of the new growth strategy.

  1. Formulate consensus on overall strategy

For the future growth, the promotion of EPA/FTA and the joining of TPP(Trans Pacific Partnership) in particular is of paramount importance. We must strengthen domestic industries, including agriculture, and promote economic restructure. We also need to reform social security systems. In "The First Year of Productivity Reform" we will aspire to achieve national consensus regarding mid- to long-term comprehensive strategy of Japan through participation of all concerned. And we will make the full effort to develop new leaders of the next decades.
