Support
for realizing competitive management
While maintaining the uniqueness of Japanese-style management amidst
a rapidly globalizing market is certainly a virtue, it is imperative
for Japanese businesses to enhance their competitiveness in order
to survive. This situation urgently calls for an objective assessment
of corporate activities from the perspective of customers, as corporate
development and benefit are directly influenced by customer satisfaction.
It also presses for the qualitative improvement of management systems.
The JPC-SED instituted the Japan Quality Award in 1996 as an incentive
for companies to pursue these management reforms. Based on the principle
of the Japan Quality Award, the Japan Quality Award Promotion Department
provides basic concepts and policies necessary to bring about transformations
of management in the form of management quality improvement programs.
